Nothing beats stress like a dive adventure combined with Thai hopitality.

diving in thailand

Before I moved to Singapore, I spent a year traveling and living in Thailand, exploring the food, culture, people and most excitedly, the undersea world.

Diving in Thailand is of course a world famous past time, but along my journeys I found that it’s not just where you go diving, but whom you go diving with that makes all the difference. Choose the wrong guide and you could find yourself out of pocket and spending the day in a crappy local.

That’s why I have to recommend as your guide, Tara Alton, someone who has lived in Thailand and traveled extensively throughout the country. Although I’ve never needed a guide, if you’re looking for a quick holiday in the region, it’s often best to go with someone who knows.

Tara has a strong knowledge of Thai culture, customs and society, and whether in the city or out of it, she’ll show you the highlights and ‘must sees’ for every type of traveler, as well as the historical, social and environmental background of the areas in which you’ll be traveling.

Tara has traveled Thailand throughout her life and upon completing college, spent a year there teaching and volunteering with a Thai environmental organization.

Tara will not only guide you on this tour, but will serve to make your journey as comfortable and enjoyable as you wish. Not really a tourist package tour, her goal is to provide you with a helpful companion and a knowledgeable resource all rolled into one.

As a half Thai native of California, she is well equipped to help bridge the cultural gap between you and the Thais, making for an informative, enlightening and enjoyable trip for all.

But what about diving? Are you ready to take the plunge? Receive your professional PADI dive certificate while staying at one of the most beautiful and unspoiled stretches of white sand beach in all of southern Thailand.

Tara has now set up a package deal on the dates of June 10 through 20, 2005 that includes:

2 nights in Bangkok at a cozy, centrally located guesthouse with pickup from airport if desired

5 nights at beachside resort including meals, accommodation, 4 day dive course certificate, and transport to and from with guide.

A visit to an elephant sanctuary within a national park

1 night in Hua Hin

2 additional nights in Bangkok

The stay in the south cannot be rivaled in terms of comfort, quality and beauty. You will have the white sands and crystal blue waters virtually to yourselves. When not diving, options abound such as enjoying a relaxing Thai massage, swimming laps in the Olympic sized pool, playing beach volleyball, going on a firefly or squid boat tour in the evening or simply enjoying a good book under the palms. First rate accommodations include air conditioning, hot water and cable TV in every room.

For nature lovers, the grounds at the resort host the most exotic and beautiful flora in Thailand. In addition, fruits and vegetables are grown organically and eggs are raised naturally to supply the restaurant.

The resort also utilizes a water reclamation system to irrigate the grounds, makes compost using kitchen scraps to fertilize the garden and uses energy efficient air conditioning in its newer rooms. In the ‘Play + Learn’ garden (Plearn) you can learn about the sustainable agriculture practiced here.

The trip will also include a stop at an elephant sanctuary, a rare opportunity to get off the beaten track and observe elephants in their natural habitats. With a one night stop in Hua Hin, known for outstanding food and shopping, this package includes it all. While in Bangkok, your guide will navigate you through the sights, sounds and smells of this great city. Temples, restaurants, shopping and more!!
