Holiday with Komodos, for nothing says money like a holiday with giant lizards.
Amanwana Komodo Expedition season begins in summer and runs until late October. This unique, three-night trip through the eastern Indonesian archipelago combines the chance to view the Komodo dragons up-close and personal, plus the opportunity to experience some of the country’s most acclaimed diving and snorkelling sites, renowned for their spectacular underwater biodiversity.
Komodo National Park is a world heritage site where guests are escorted by park rangers to view the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat, (apparently under your bungalow). At three meters in length and about 70 kilograms when fully grown, a mature Komodo dragon makes a lasting impression.
The Komodo Expedition is enjoyed aboard the 35-metre, air-conditioned Silolona, a traditional Phinisi schooner with an exterior of ironwood and aged teak interiors.
There are five en suite staterooms available – three king suites and two double cabins – and facilities include alfresco dining areas and comfortable lounges as well as three tenders for fishing, private trips to secluded beaches, snorkelling and dive excursions.
The crew includes a dive instructor and massages are available on board. The Komodo Expedition is also available for a private group of up to ten people.
Amanwana, set on the nature reserve of Moyo Island, offers two trips a week and guests can enjoy this 20-tent wilderness hideaway either prior to the expedition, or on their return.
The island of Komodo is well known for its dawn-of-time landscapes and crystal blue waters. Park rangers escort guests to view the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat on Komodo or Rinca Island.
